Education: a driving force for the industry’s development

Education is a real business partner for the Professional Products Division and is at the heart of its strategy, with more than 700,000 hairdressers trained in 2015. This is key to stepping up the professionalisation of the industry, particularly in the New Markets, and to supporting its future growth.

Education is the mainstay for development in the New Markets

In India, Mexico and Brazil, the Professional Products Division has built up and developed the professional beauty market through education. In particular, this means establishing partnerships with local hairdressers to offer high-quality training and develop the potential of talented individuals. Education can also help promote social integration, as in the Institutes, where unqualified people can learn the hairdressing profession. Each year 1,500 hairdressers are trained in Brazil in the country’s seven Institutos(1).

“Color Certification” showcases technical expertise

Hair colour is a professional, technical service, and the hairdresser’s know-how can guarantee a high-quality service and result. That is why L’ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL has set up the “Color Certification” education programme, especially in markets where technical expertise is in short supply. Following a successful launch in Mexico, the certification programme has now been rolled out across Latin America. A version of the programme adapted to suit the Chinese market’s requirements is also up and running.

Business Forum
This major event, both business-focused and artistic, clearly illustrates the historic partnership the Professional Products Division has established with hairdressers over more than a century. The forum has many aims: to analyse consumer trends and expectations, share best practices, and organise meetings with iconic industry players and entrepreneurs from all over the world.

To train and inspire tomorrow’s hairdressers, the Division is innovating with two digital initiatives: My Salon Edu and FAB, Flair Artistry Beauty.

Education is just a click away

The online learning platform, MySalon Edu offers rich content that is widely accessible. After an encouraging start in Canada, the platform will be rolled out worldwide next year.

An online media to create engagement and influence
