L’Oréal Paris: socially conscious fashion icon

Following Balmain and Isabelle Marant, this year L’Oréal Paris organised a new fashion and makeup brand collaboration in memory of Karl Lagerfeld, combining the designer’s creative energy and L’Oréal’s perception of beauty. Moreover, the third annual edition of the L’Oréal Paris fashion show at La Monnaie de Paris strengthened its ties with promising young designers and renowned international labels. The 32 international spokeswomen – actresses, singers, athletes, models, and more – of all ages represented all different types of beauty as they gathered on the catwalk for the event, sending a strong message of women’s empowerment and inclusion.

Recognised commitments

L’Oréal’s ethics initiatives were once again recognised in 2019. The Group was named one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices. This is the tenth time L’Oréal has made the list. L’Oréal was also named a Global Compact LEAD for its continuous support of the United Nations’ Global Compact and its Ten Principles for responsible business. LEAD companies are those who have achieved the highest level of engagement with the United Nations Global Compact.

L’Oréal: a role model in operational excellence

The Group complies with the strictest production standards in the areas of safety, quality, hygiene and product traceability. 95% of L’Oréal’s plants are ISO 9001 certified (quality management) and 100% are ISO 22716 certified (good manufacturing practices for cosmetics). In terms of quality, over the course of the production cycle, a single product undergoes about 100 compliance inspections. L’Oréal is also adamant about employee safety. The British Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents  recognised the Group’s health and safety initiatives with six awards.
Digital and “phygital”: a winning combination

With the rise of new purchasing channels and new customer expectations in terms of services and experiences over the last several years, the professional hairdressing industry has been evolving to include more digital technologies. L’Oréal has made digital technologies a major growth driver for both hairdressers and their clients.
