A new philanthropy policy
L’Oréal published its ethical and responsible Philanthropy Policy in 2021, which details the Group’s philanthropic commitments and explains how they align with its ethical principles.
Positively impacting society thanks to our responsible Philanthropy Policy
As a signatory of the UN Global Compact since 2003, L’Oréal has been committed to supporting the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, particularly via corporate social responsibility and philanthropic initiatives. L’Oréal published its ethical and responsible Philanthropy Policy in 2021 to clarify the governance of its philanthropic activities and set out its ambitions and activities to all partners (employees, charities, NGOs etc.).
To contribute more effectively to addressing societal issues and make a significant impact, L’Oréal, its subsidiaries, and the L’Oréal Foundation focus the core of their philanthropic efforts on programmes that support women. In 2020, the Group launched the L’Oréal Fund for Women, a €50 million solidarity fund distributed over three years to support highly vulnerable women across the globe. Our philanthropic initiatives also aim to promote social inclusion and provide humanitarian aid or emergency assistance.

A framework for choosing partners and projects
The goal of the ethical and responsible Philanthropy Policy is to establish a framework that sets out shared principles for the entire Group. For example, the policy includes criteria for choosing partners: they must be non-profit, public-interest organisations that share the Group’s Ethical Principles and are not engaged in political or religious activism. There can be no risk of conflict of interest. It's also important that selected projects have a concrete positive impact with a long-term commitment from the Group and a promise of transparency from the partner regarding the future of the project and the use of the funds, products, or skills provided by L’Oréal.
The Group’s Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer is the lead contact for philanthropic activities both internally and externally. The General Managers for each country and Sustainability Leaders in each Zone, Division and country support her in implementing and enforcing this policy.
