Longstanding commitment to the United Nations
L’Oréal has been a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact since 2003, and of the Women’s Empowerment Principles of UN Women since 2014. The group also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Women’s Empowerment Principles Award
In 2016, Jean-Paul Agon, Chairman and CEO of L’Oréal, received the Women’s Empowerment Principles CEO Leadership Award. The Women’s Empowerment Principles is an initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact, which aims to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women in the workplace, market place, and the community.
L’Oréal supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
On 1 January 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 – adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at a historic United Nations summit meeting – came into force. Over the next 15 years, thanks to these new targets, which apply to everyone, countries will work together in an effort to end all forms of poverty, challenge inequalities and mitigate climate change. As a responsible citizen, L'Oréal is already strongly committed to 14 out of the 17 goals.
Responsible business practices acknowledged by the United Nations Global Compact
Since its creation in 2013, L'Oréal has been included on the UN Global Compact stock index for companies that have outperformed the global stock market with a total investment return of more than 25%. In 2015, L’Oréal joined the UN Global Compact LEAD, that brings together the most committed companies to sustainability.
